Last week TFI hosted a reception for 2012 Robert De Niro Sr. Prize winner Joyce Pensato. Pensato, a Brooklyn-based artist, who was awarded a $25,000 award by Robert De Niro, co-founder of the Institute.
The annual award honors outstanding mid-career American painters.
“We’ve always given away an artist prize as well as a cash prize at the [Tribeca] film festival, and it just felt natural to be able to recognize Bob Sr. and recognize mid-career artists,” Institute co-founder Jane Rosenthal told Vanity Fair at the event.
Guests also included Stanley Whitney, Al Kresch, Paul Resika, Grace Hightower, Laurie Simmons and Eric Parker.
