Aemilia is an award-winning writer and director based in Chicago and Los Angeles. Her short BEST IF USED BY won a BAFTA Los Angeles Award at Aspen Shorts Fest, Honorary Mentions at REGARD Quebec and USA Film Fest Dallas, and premiered at Clermont Ferrand. Following BEST IF USED BY, Aemilia directed three more award-winning short films: FOR A GOOD TIME, (Premiere, Aspen Shortsfest, Newport Beach, etc.); SHOT (Premiere, Kurzfilm Hamburg, Chicago International Film Fest, etc.) and HOW YOU ARE TO ME (Winner, Best Drama, Short Sweet Film Fest, etc.).
Aemilia has two feature film scripts in development. The first, BIRTHDAY SUIT, was invited to IFP Film Week New York and TFI Network market. It was selected for the Hamptons International Film Festival Screenwriters Lab, where she won the top award, the Melissa Mathison Film Prize. BIRTHDAY SUIT has Bankside Films on board for international sales, and Holli McGinley and James Brown, the producer of STILL ALICE, on board to produce. Her second feature script, THREE HOURS, won the Chicago International Film Festival’s Pitch Competition and is featured on The Black List. Aemilia is currently a 2019/2020 fellow of the Sony Pictures Diverse Directors’ Program.
