Barbara Boyle’s credits include two films for Touchstone Pictures: INSTINCT with Anthony Hopkins, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Donald Sutherland and PHENOMENON with John Travolta, Kyra Sedgwick and Robert Duval. Other credits include Columbia Pictures’ BOTTLE ROCKET, directed by Wes Anderson, with Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson; EIGHT MEN OUT, directed by John Sayles, with John Cusack and Charlie Sheen; MRS. MUNCK starring Diane Ladd, Bruce Dern and Shelly Winters; and
THE HI-LINE with Ryan Alosio and Rachael Leigh Cook.
Her company, Sovereign Pictures, Inc., financed and internationally distributed 25 films including, MY LEFT FOOT, CINEMA PARADISO, REVERSAL OF FORTUNE, IMPROMPTU, HAMLET and THE COMMITMENTS. Sovereign’s films were nominated for 14 Academy Awards, winning 4. While president of Valhalla Motion Pictures, the company produced CLOCKSTOPPERS, directed by Jonathan Frakes, and HULK, directed by Ang Lee, as well 22 episodes of ADVENTURE, INC. and a television documentary, TRUE WHISPERS, about the Navajo Codetalkers who fought in WWII.
In 2003, Boyle was named Chair of the UCLA Department of Film, Television and Digital Media. She serves on the Board of Project:Involve and is a past president of both IFP/West and Women In Film. Among many awards, Boyle has received a VISION AWARD from IFP and the WIF CRYSTAL AWARD as well as being named UCLA Law School’s Alumni of the Year.
