Caryn Waechter, a native Californian, completed her Masters of Fine Arts in Directing at Columbia University in 2004. Inspired by dance and music, her style has been described as "lyrical" and "intuitive" in her short film "BEAT." This super 8mm film was recognized at festivals throughout Europe and the U.S., and inspired her feature-length screenplay of the same name. Her thesis film "God is Good," written by Dennis Lee, toured the film festival circuit and was honored with the New Line Cinema Award for Best Director (Columbia University Film Festival), Narrative Short Finalist (IFP Market) and Special Jury Prize (USA Film Festival) among other awards.
