Dee Rees

Diandra Rees is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and is currently a graduate film student at New York University. She has produced, written, and directed three short films, all of which have gone on to festivals. Her most recent short film, "Orange Bow," screened in several film festivals across the country, including the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival where it was very well received.

Dee worked as a script supervision intern on Spike Lee's "Inside Man" and "When The Levees Broke." She's a two-time winner of the Benjamin L. Hooks Fellowship from Fox Television Group, and was also awarded the Celebration of Diversity Scholarship from the Producer's Guild of America. The screenplay for her short thesis film, "Pariah" won the 2006 Richard Vague Production Grant as well as an MTV Networks Production Grant. Most recently, "Pariah" was honored with a prestigious 2007 Frameline Film & Video Completion Grant and will screen at the upcoming Frameline 31 LGBT Film Festival in San Francisco, CA.
