Heather Rae has produced more than a dozen documentary films, both independent and for television. In the late 1990s Rae was the Director of the Native American Program for the Sundance Institute and a programmer for the Sundance Film Festival. Rae was also a co-producer on Offline Entertainment's feature film Backroads and produced Cheechoo’s first film Silent Tears, for the CBC and the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. In 2001 Rae was Senior Vice President of Production at independent film company Winter Films. She has recently become an adjunct professor at Boise State University in the Communications Department and currently sits on the Board of Directors for Treasure Valley Television, Boise’s community TV affiliate. She is also the Chair of the Board for the True West Cinema Festival. Most recently, Rae produced and directed Trudell, which will be screened at this year’s Festival. Rae is Cherokee and resides in Boise, Idaho with her husband and three children.
