Masako Tsumura studied Media at Keio University in Japan, and moved to New York City in 1998, where she earned an M.A. in Media Studies from the New School University. She has made several short documentaries and worked as assistant editor for the 35mm features “Going Under” (2003) starring Roger Rees, and “Love” (2004). She was the editor and associate producer for "Arakimentari" (2004), a feature documentary about the Japanese Photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. "Arakimentari" won the Best Editing Award at the Honolulu International Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award at the Brooklyn International Film Festival, and gained theatrical and TV distribution in the U.S., Japan, Canada, and the U.K. Recently, Masako has directed and edited a series of documentaries for Sony Japan’s broadband streaming video website “World Event Village.”
