Suzi Yoonessi is an independent producer based in New York. While studying at Columbia University, Suzi began her collaboration with fellow Iranian-American, Maryam Keshavarz, while both were first year film students and looking to pool their resources. Suzi was assistant producer to Gina Kwon for the Sundance Institute NHK Award winner The Motel, and has also served as producer for Miguel Arteta’s short film Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody?, starring John C. Reilly. The short film screened in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, on the Sundance Channel, and was theatrically released at the IFC Center in New York and distributed by McSweeney’s for a compilation DVD.
In 2005, Yoonessi collaborated with Kwon as associate producer for the feature film Me and You and Everyone We Know (winner of the Cannes Camera D’Or, written and directed by acclaimed artist/performer Miranda July, for IFC Films & Film Four (UK).
Continuing her career as producer, Suzi is presently in production on two feature film projects: 7 Arts Picture’s The Swiss Village and Kit Carson’s Califunia.
