Logline

Humera, an eleven-year-old girl from a remote village off the coast of Karachi Pakistan, dreams of becoming a doctor. When the only school in her community comes under threat of closure, Humera faces intense pressure to forego her education for an arranged marriage. A DESTRUCTION follows Humera’s life trajectory as it reaches a critical point: she must maintain the determination to stay in school or risk falling prey to the cycle of poverty.

Urooj Yazdani

Urooj Yazdani holds an M.D. from the Chicago Medical School and an M.Ed. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Her research has centered around gender disparity in the developing world, specifically the socioeconomic circumstances that prevent women from attaining higher education in rural Pakistan.

Omar Nabulsi

Cinematographer

Omar Nabulsi is a Chicago-based director of photography and an alumnus of the Columbia College Chicago film program. He has lensed a wide variety of projects, including short form documentary, corporate, commercials, sports, and portraits. He has traveled internationally for his work with Sony and Wikipedia.
