Cutie and The Boxer is a love story that explores the chaotic forty-year marriage of New York-based Japanese artists Ushio and Noriko Shinohara, offering a candid look at two headstrong yet ultimately complimentary personalities.
Director
Zachary Heinzerling has worked on several documentaries for HBO, including three Emmy-Award winners, as a Field Producer and DP. Other DP credits include spots for MTV, Pitchfork TV, and Esquire Magazine.
Executive Producer
Lydia Dean Pilcher has produced over 27 feature films and is currently preparing to produce The Reluctant Fundamentalist, based on the highly acclaimed novel by Mohsin Hamid, to be directed by Mira Nair.
Producer
Sierra Pettengill is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and archivist. Town Hall, her directorial debut (co-directed with Jamila Wignot) broadcast nationally on PBS in 2014. She is the producer of the Academy Award® nominated documentary Cutie and the Boxer, and the archival producer of Matt Wolf’s Teenage. She is currently producing The Reagan Years, directed by Pacho Velez and directing a short documentary in Afghanistan, Hall of the Evening Star.
