Karina Nuñez has been a sex worker for thirty years and an outspoken activist for the last ten -- leading the charge for labor rights in Uruguay’s sex work industry. Now at the age of 45, she begins to imagine life working in another field. KARINA follows her fight for acceptance and fair pay, and explores how her struggle for equality ends up redefining her place in contemporary Uruguay.

Marta García

Director, Executive Producer

Marta Garcia has lived in Uruguay since 2012. Currently she works as a programmer at DocMontevideo and as an editor at LatAm Cinema. She has programmed at festivals such as Málaga, Zinebi, CineMigrante and Tenemos Que Ver, among others. She has a Master in Cultural Management and a Postgraduate in Local Development and International Cultural Relations.

Sol Infante

Director, Cinematographer

Sol Infante has been living in Uruguay since 2000. She currently works as a professor of Audiovisual Baccalaureate, and is a photographer and an audiovisual technician. She participated in the Ibero-American Workshop of Documentary Human Rights Film in Bolivia, and co-founded the Uruguayan Human Rights Film Festival.

Florencia Abbondanza

Producer

Flor Abbondanza is a producer, born in Uruguay in 1988. She graduated from the Film School of Uruguay in 2003, and has been a Professor at the Catholic University of Uruguay since 2011. She has also been an Executive at the Board of Directors and Producers Association (ASOPROD) since 2014, and was an Executive Producer in the advertising industry in Bogotá between 2016 and 2018.
