Director
Chris Lee wrote/directed Yellow, a $150,000 independently financed feature film about eight Asian-American teens whose graduation night culminates in a crime that will change their lives forever. Yellow was invited to over a dozen film festivals, including the Slamdance Dramatic Competition 1998, Singapore International 1998, and the Los Angeles Film Festival 1997. The film was released theatrically by Phaedra Cinema and worldwide by Cinema Arts. Yellow garnered high critical praise from publications such as the Chicago Sun-Times (Roger Ebert), the Los Angeles Times, New York Daily News, and the Village Voice. Awards included the 1999 Golden Ring Award for Best Independent Feature Film and the 1997 Gold Carp 1st Place Audience Award. In 2001 Chris directed television at Singapore’s Media Corp Studios for Channel 5 (English). Chris has also directed music videos for Asian American artists Seam and the Mountain Brothers, which have aired on MTV. He graduated from the USC School of Cinema.
Producer
Karin Chien is an independent film producer based in New York City. Ms. Chien is currently co-producing The Motel (winner of the NHK Screenplay Award at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival) with producers Miguel Arteta and Matthew Greensfield (and Chuck & Buck). Ms. Chien has produced feature-length films MVP and Robot Stories, winner of 29 film festival awards, currently in theatrical release around teh country.
Producer
Catherine Park is an independent consultant; advising companies on strategies to develop their businesses, assemble teams, and source funding. She is also CFO/COO of Giant Robot, an Asian pop culture magazine and retail store in its ninth year. Catherine set up and managed the LA branches of Magnet Interactive and fine.com and was subsequently named on the “Top 50 Digital Coast Executives” by Silicon Alley Reporter. She has helped found several organizations including Asians in Entertainment and New Technologies. Catherine serves on the Board of Directors of Korean American Coalition, Visual Communications Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film & Video Festival, Playwright’s Arena and Women in New Technologies. Catherine is a graduate of USC.
