'Cutie And The Boxer' Takes Home Three Cinema Eye Honors

Winners of the 7th annual Cinema Eye Honors were announced Wednesday night in New York City, and TFI alum Cutie and the Boxer walked away with three awards: Outstanding Achievement in a Debut Feature Film for its director Zachary Heinzerling, Outstanding Achievement in Graphic Design or Animation and Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Score.

This continues Heinzerling and his film's amazing year, which started last January when the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and took home the Best Director prize (and a distribution deal with Radius-TWC).

Here's hoping next week will bring the film its final achievement: an Oscar nomination.

Cutie and The Boxer is a love story that explores the chaotic forty-year marriage of New York-based Japanese artists Ushio and Noriko Shinohara, offering a candid look at two headstrong yet ultimately complimentary personalities.

The film received a grant from the TFI Documentary Fund in 2012.
