The Tribeca Film Institute is thrilled to announce our partnership with ITVS: Women and Girls Lead. As a part of their Women and Girls Lead initiative, we are building education models for high school classrooms and community organizations around the themes of African American women’s leadership, empowerment, and social justice.

On March 21st at 7pm, the Education Department at Tribeca Film Institute will be holding a special screening of The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 for community organizations, community groups, and parents. The film includes never-before seen footage from black power leaders like Stokely Carmichael and Angela Davis in 1970s Harlem, edited by filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson. It also features commentary and reflections form contemporary African American thinkers including Harry Belafonte, Talib Kweli, and Erykah Badu.

This is a free screening open to the public. After the screening, hear from a panel of Harlem activists and young filmmakers about black and minority empowerment, female leadership, and community activism.

Seating for the event will be first come first serve and rsvp is required. SCREENING IS SOLD OUT.

We hope you'll join us!
