Reframe Spotlight: 'Hubby/Wifey'

In Todd Hughes' Hubby/Wifey, we follow a modern lesbian couple who find themselves in a fever dream that focuses on Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas, who lived together in Paris and though they were not "out" as lesbians, the inseparable duo forged a prophetic and enduring same-sex union.

As we watch the joys and trails of Gertrude and Alice's relationship, the film pays homage to Stein's legendary salon of Parisian visionaries set to a love letter Stein wrote late one night in the early 1920's for her Toklas to find on the morning of her birthday.
