Get ready to add a few more titles to your Netflix queue. The streaming side of the home entertainment giant announced today that it has acquired TFI-supported and Sundance favorites E-TEAM and The Battered Bastards of Baseball.
Battered Bastards—which won our TFI/ESPN Prize and follows the underdog story of the independent baseball team, Portland Mavericks, which was owned by Hollywood character actor Bing Russell—will premiere on July 11. The film is directed by Chapman and Maclain Way.
E-TEAM—supported by the and winner of the Cinematography Award in the U.S. Documentary Competition at this year's Sundance—is slated for a fall premiere, which will likely be Netflix's play for Oscar consideration. The film looks at the high-stakes investigative work undertaken by four intrepid human-rights workers. Directors on the film are Katy Chivigny and Ross Kauffman.
And if you can't wait for the Netflix premieres both films are currently on the festival circuit, so keep and eye out for them coming to your town in the coming months.
