Tribeca Film announced this morning that they've acquired North American rights to this year's Tribeca Film Festival opening night film, Time Is Illmatic.
A Tribeca All Access® alum, the documentary is the debut feature film of multimedia artist, One9, and looks back on the landmark album Illmatic (currently celebrating its 20th anniversary) by rapper Nas, while also examining the events in Nas' youth in NYC's Queensbridge projects that led to the albums' powerful lyrics.
Tribeca Film is planning a day-and-date release in October that will also include performances by Nas in select cities. There will also be an educational youth screening series during the release.
