Érika Mercado Sánchez (Puebla, Mexico, 1981) is Creative Producer and CEO of the production company Merkado 13 Audiovisual. Her work promotes the academic training and regionalization of Mexican production. She is a cinema teacher at Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP) and holds an Honorary Fellowship from the advisory council of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Americas (UDLAP). She graduated with honors and received a Master’s degree in audiovisual production from Ina Sup (France).
She’s a former fellow of the FONCA Young Creators program, PACMYC, and PECDA Puebla. She worked with Yves Jeanneau as the Latin American Consultant for the international documentary market, Sunny Side of the Doc. She has a lot of experience in many industry forums including IDFA Forum, Chiledoc Connects, and DOC Meeting Buenos Aires, among others. She’s a visiting professor at EICTV-Cuba and a Polos Audiovisuales mentor. She received the FOPROCINE-IMCINE for HIPPOCAMPUS DANCE by Gabriela D. Ruvalcaba and her debut feature BELLY BUTTON, now in production.
She is currently producing THE ROAD IS A RED THREAD by Melissa Elizondo.
The Road is a Red Thread explores the ongoing femicide crisis in Mexico, and the daily rituals - and uncertainty - that women in that country have to endure to avoid the wave of violence against them.
