Graduated in 1996 as multimedia designer and following worked as www developer at TeleDanmark and Y&R Advertising Agency. Since 1999 Kjær has been directing nationwide primetime documentaries, with huge audience success and following debate in public medias, e.g. ”For the Sake of the Children” (40 min). The Footage for this TV programme is the archive foundation for Mercy Mercy, which Kjær has kept on developing, with an international feature documentary in mind, going in depth with the material. Parallel to this Kjær has worked on the TV series “The Field Hospital” (6x25 min. 2010) on the field hospital in Camp Bastian, Afghanistan. The intention of the series was to give insight of the realities of all opponents in a complex global conflict, and is a unique platform to examine human consequences of war for all parties, as ISAF soldiers, Taleban and civilians are unwillingly forced in the same location. The series was aired primetime on TV2 Denmark, and was followed up on other TV2 media, such as TV2 News, Good Evening Denmark, and Good Morning Denmark (TV2).
