About

K’naan Warsame recently finished his first feature length screenplay, The River of Blood, a project based on his experiences growing up in Somalia.  Warsame released his debut CD entitled The Dusty Foot Philosopher in Canada, produced by Grammy Award-winning producers Track & Field and released by Sony/BMG.  “Soobax,” the lead single from the album, has become the soundtrack to a revolution in East Africa and an inspiring uplifting track for people from all cultures who have suffered under the oppression of dictatorship, violence, and war.  He has shared stages with Damian Marley, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Nelly Furtado, Xavier Rudd, Bedouin Soundclash, Spearhead, The Roots, Amadou and Miriam, Hawksley Workman, Digable Planets, Buck 65, Live8 Artists, Bob Dylan, Sting, Wyclef Jean, and Youssou N’Dour to name a few.
