Laurence met Jasiri in 2015 on a writing assignment for a TV-series based on the death penalty. The two became close and Laurence visited Jasiri regularly on death row. After getting to know Jasiri, his family, and seeing the artwork, poetry and writing he was able to create in solitary confinement, Laurence offered to be his eyes and ears on the outside, allowing Jasiri to direct this documentary from solitary confinement.
