Mary Evangelista is an award-winning filmmaker born in the Philippines and raised in California's Bay Area. Mary received an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Writing and Directing, where they were the recipient of a fellowship for cinematography. In Mary’s last year at school, they produced the feature FISH BONES, which premiered at Slamdance 2018. Their short film, FRAN THIS SUMMER, is an LGBTQ summer love story that has screened in over 30 festivals, including the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. They were also the co-creator of WATER MELTS, a Tribeca Film Institute and Google Daydream supported VR rom-com about caretakers losing their loved ones that premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Most recently, Mary completed the Project Involve Fellowship with Film Independent. Mary pursues distinct and transformative stories full of bullish heart and levity.
