Meneka trained at The Lee Strasberg Institute. She studied screenwriting with the American Emmy award winning screenwriter/playwright Jan Hartman. Meneka has taken short courses at Raindance and London film school on film making with Mark Travis, Mike Figgis and Dov Simens. She also did a seminar on script writing with Linda Seger (Author of Making a good script Great). BTech in Film and video from Westminster College and a recent short course in Final Cut Pro.
Her 35mm short “The Audition” was picked to open Mira Nair’s “Hysterical Blindness” at Bite the Mango Festival 2003. “Little Box of Sweets” marked Meneka’s feature directing debut. A low budget independent film made in India with a diverse cast and crew from UK and India. It went on to be the Gala opening film at Bite the Mango Festival 06 and had a successful two-week run at the ICA in August 2008.
In November 2007 Meneka was one of eight filmmakers selected to visit India on the Mayor’s Trip with Film London. Feb 08 Meneka was selected on B3 FeatureLabe development program.
Oct 08 she was chosen to do the TSD (Think-shoot distribute) an initiative of Film London in conjunction with the BFI London Film Festival.
Set to the backdrop of contemporary London, two sisters travel from a broken home in India with dreams of a music career tha ttakes them on a journey of hope, love, betrayal and finally one of self-discovery.
