Natalia Almada's experimental documentary All Water Has A Perfect Memory, about a cross-cultural family remembering the loss of a child, was an official selection of the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and won best short documentary at the Tribeca Film Festical and a gold plaque award at the Chicago International Film Festival. Almada received an MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and is working as a freelance filmmaker in New York.
Almada was born in Mexico to a Mexican father and a North American mother. She has spend her life between the two countries and has a deep personal understanding of the Mexican-American relationship.
Al Otro Lado will explore the worlds of immigration and drug trafficking through Mexico's 200-year-old tradition of corrido music.
