Sabine Hoffman, ACE, began her journey to becoming a film editor in Berlin, studying art, philosophy and film history. In the United States, she has edited independent feature films for over 15 years, including Rebecca Miller’s films PERSONAL VELOCITY (Sundance Grand Jury Award and Best Cinematography winner and also the winner of the John Cassavettes Award), THE BALLAD OF JACK AND ROSE (starring Daniel Day Lewis), and MAGGIE'S PLAN (Julianne Moore, Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke. She recently completed ELVIS AND NIXON (starring Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon, directed by Liza Johnson) and is currently editing Kyra Sedgwick's directorial debut STORY OF A GIRL.
She is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University and a mentor to many filmmaker organizations, including the IFP and the Sundance Institute and serves on the advisory boards of Reel Works and the Woodstock Film Festival, where she founded the Editing Awards for feature and documentary narratives in 2004.
A 17 year-old orphan is shipped off to her estranged grandmother and she plots her escape while navigating a foreign environment, new friendships and a hidden eating disorder.
