Ted Kroeber is the producer, along with Forest Whitaker, of the feature film American Gun which is currently in post-production with his company, Spirit Dance Entertainment. With his partner, writer/director Aric Avelino, Kroeber assembled a cast that includes Marcia Gay Harden, Whitaker, Donald Sutherland, Tony Goldwyn, Linda Cardellini, and Nikki Reed. A look at the effects of guns on three communities across the nation, the film will make its theatrical debut from IFC Films in the spring of 2006 after its world premiere at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival.
A producer of six short films, Mr. Kroeber worked for Jerry Bruckheimer Films during the production of Enemy of the State and Armageddon and later at Marty Katz Productions and for Paramount Pictures at Cruise/Wagner Productions. Additionally, he has worked on commercials, shorts, and features in a variety of roles including first assistant director, production manager, and line producer.
Mr. Kroeber is currently in development on several projects, including Four Sheets to the Wind, and The Listening Party, written by Sean Blythe and to be directed by John Chuldenko. Additionally, Mr. Kroeber was selected to participate in IFP/LA’s 2003 Producers Lab and is the Sundance Institute’s 2005 Mark Silverman Fellow.
Mr. Kroeber is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University. He volunteered for two years in the Inner City Teaching Corps, teaching eighth grade on Chicago's Westside and has been profiled by the Chicago Tribune and Vanity Fair. He is a recipient of the Riordan Foundation's Andrew Bogel Award and the Fr. Robert Graham Award for Service and Leadership. Mr. Kroeber is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society and serves as a mentor in FIND’s Project: Involve.
