At the heart of the Sierra Maestra, five veterans from the war in Angola prepare for battle. Always ready and isolated from the world, they live immersed in a jungle far from the deep transitions going on throughout the rest of Cuba. They are the last samurais of the Cuban Revolution.

Irene Gutierrez

Director

Irene Gutierrez graduated in Documentary Cinema from the International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV, Cuba) and holds a Master Degree in Art & Cinema Studies. Her films and research link the intimate portrait and the historical dimensions of her characters through the landscape as an expression of the political tension between individuals and nation. Her awarded 1st feature Hotel Nueva Isla (2014) was premiered in Rotterdam International Film Festival and was screened as part of the MoMA Fortnight Documentary 2015.

Viana González

Producer

Viana González is a young Cuban producer who graduated from the International Film School and TV in Cuba (EICTV) and is the leader of the production company Autonauta Films. She has produced several short films, which have been screened in Cannes, Biarritz, Sundance, IDFA, among others festivals.

Jose Alayón

Producer

Jose Alayón studied Production at the Centre of Studies CEV in Madrid and Direction at the International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. In 2014, he founded the production company El Viaje Films, focuses on independent debut films that explore new narratives forms with subjects on social issues.
