Once upon a time, the Venezuelan village of Congo Mirador, floating on stilts just inches above the deep Lake Maracaibo, was prosperous, alive with fishermen and poets. In recent years, it has decayed and disintegrated, rotting beneath pollution and neglect—a small but prophetic reflection of Venezuela itself.
Anabel Rodríguez Ríos
DIRECTOR
Anabel Rodríguez Ríos has an MA in filmmaking at the London Film School. She just finished The Barrel, a short documentary which was shown at HotDocs. Growing in Oil is her debut feature.
Sepp Bruderman
PRODUCER
Sepp Bruderman has an MA at the Academy of Fine Arts- Vienna / MA Audio Visual Production - London Metropolitan University. He won Best Documentary at the British National Students Film Festival. Recently he produced The Barrel, one version for the Why Poverty series.
