In a Nicaraguan fishing community, divers are getting sick. They descend to the sea looking for lobster and return to the surface with their bodies paralyzed. With no other explanation, the old men in the village believe the divers have raised the anger of a mythical “Mermaid.”

DIRECTOR
Born and raised in Mexico City, Luis studied communications at the Universidad Iberoamericana. The Mermaid and the Myth of the Eternal Return is his third documentary.

Cristina was a producer on Rigoberto Perezcano’s Tropical Carmine as well as Nuria Ibáñez’s The Naked Room, which was awarded the Best Mexican Documentary at the Morelia International Film Festival, Ficunam & Festival Rec, in Tarragona. Recently, she finished shooting Peter Greenaway’s Eisenstein en Guanajuato.
